Terms and Conditions

Our terms, your protection - clear rules for every booking

Effective Date: September 2026

These terms govern your use of the 4Drive Egypt booking platform. By completing a booking through our website, you accept these conditions in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with any reservation.

Scope

4Drive connects you with local rental companies operating in Egypt. We process your booking and payment, then issue a voucher containing the contact details and location of the company that will hand over your vehicle. These terms cover the booking process through our platform only.

The rental agreement itself is a separate contract between you and the local rental company. You will sign that agreement when you collect the vehicle. Each company applies its own terms for vehicle use, damage liability, fuel policy, and return conditions. Those terms are binding once you sign.

We do not own or operate the vehicles. Our role is to facilitate the booking and handle the advance payment.

Bookings and the Rental Agreement

When you complete a booking on our website, you receive a voucher by email. That voucher confirms your reservation and lists the rental company's name, address, contact details, and the pick-up time you selected. It also states which documents you must bring and what balance payment methods that company accepts.

At the pick-up location, you will sign a rental agreement with the local company. The staff will inspect the vehicle with you and note any existing damage on the agreement form. Check the bodywork, glass, tyres, and interior carefully. Any mark you miss may be charged to you later.

The rental agreement sets out the fuel policy, mileage limits if any, permitted driving areas, and the excess amount that applies if the vehicle is damaged or stolen. The agreement also states the deposit amount that the company will block on your card.

Advance Payment and Balance

When you book through our website, you pay a booking advance online by debit or credit card. This advance is not the full rental cost. The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle.

The accepted payment methods for the balance depend on the specific vehicle you booked. Some machines allow you to pay the balance by debit card or cash, others require a credit card. Your voucher and the booking confirmation page tell you which methods the rental company accepts for your reservation.

Cash payments are not accepted online. All online transactions are processed by card only. If your card does not have a high enough limit to cover both the balance and any deposit block, contact your bank to raise the limit before you travel.

Deposit Conditions

Most rental companies will block a deposit on your card when you collect the vehicle. This block is a temporary hold, not a charge. The amount and the type of card required depend on the vehicle you booked, not on the category or class.

The deposit amount is stated in your voucher. The block usually remains in place until you return the vehicle undamaged and with the agreed fuel level. If there is damage or a traffic fine, the company will deduct the cost from the blocked amount.

If you book a vehicle that requires no deposit, the voucher will confirm this. No deposit does not mean no excess. You remain liable for the excess stated in the rental agreement if the vehicle is damaged or stolen. The two concepts are independent.

Drivers and Documents

The person named as the main driver on the booking must be present at pick-up and must bring a valid driving licence. An International Driving Permit is recommended alongside your home-country licence, and many rental companies require both documents.

If you want to add a second driver, inform the rental company at pick-up. This is usually a paid extra, and the additional driver must also present a valid licence and IDP.

You must also bring the credit or debit card used to pay the advance, a passport or national ID, and the booking voucher, either printed or on your phone.

Use of the Vehicle

You may drive on public roads throughout mainland Egypt, but certain areas are restricted. Travel into the Sinai Peninsula and some parts of the Western Desert requires written permission from the rental company. Some routes also require a police escort arranged in advance.

If you plan to visit these areas, mention it when you book and confirm the arrangement with the rental company at pick-up. Driving into a restricted zone without permission will breach your rental agreement and void any damage cover.

Urban speed limits are typically 60 km/h, highway limits range from 90 to 100 km/h, and desert roads allow up to 120 km/h. Egypt drives on the right. There are no toll roads or vignette charges.

Fuel stations are frequent in cities and along major highways. In remote desert areas, gaps between stations can be long. Plan your fuel stops accordingly, especially on routes through the Western Desert.

Changes and Cancellation

If you need to change your pick-up time, location, or rental period, contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible. We will check availability and inform you of any price difference. Changes are subject to the rental company's availability.

Cancellation terms are stated in your booking confirmation. If you cancel within the permitted window, you receive a refund of the advance minus any processing fee. Cancellations made after the deadline or no-shows forfeit the advance.

If the rental company cannot provide your reserved vehicle due to breakdown or other reasons beyond their control, they will offer an equivalent or higher category at no extra cost. If no substitute is available, we will refund your advance in full.

Liability

We are responsible for processing your booking accurately and issuing the correct voucher. We are not liable for the condition, performance, or availability of the vehicle itself, nor for the acts or omissions of the rental company or its staff.

Your rental agreement with the local company defines your liability for damage, theft, traffic fines, and late return. Any claim for vehicle damage or loss is handled directly by that company under the terms you signed.

We do not provide insurance. Any damage waiver or coverage option is offered by the rental company and governed by their terms. Read those terms carefully and ask questions at pick-up if anything is unclear.

Complaints

If you experience a problem during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details in your voucher. Most issues can be resolved on the spot.

If the problem is not resolved or if your complaint concerns our booking service, email us at [email protected]. Include your booking reference, a description of the issue, and any supporting photos or documents.

We will investigate and respond within five working days. If the complaint relates to the vehicle or the rental company's conduct, we will liaise with them on your behalf, but the final resolution depends on the terms of your rental agreement.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Egypt. Any dispute arising from your booking or use of our platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Egyptian courts.

The rental agreement you sign with the local company is also governed by Egyptian law. Traffic offences, accident liability, and contract disputes fall under Egyptian jurisdiction.

If you have questions about these terms, contact us at [email protected] before making a booking. Our office is in Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt, and we are available Monday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+2).
